CDC Target Group Guidance for Influenza A (H1N1) 2009 Monovalent Vaccine

The H1N1 swine flu vaccine is currently available in limited supply in our office. For questions, please call our office at 864-242-4683 and choose option 7. Our office will be required to comply with the following DHEC/CDC guidelines for vaccination:

Administration of the vaccine

When vaccine is first available, vaccine should be administered to persons in the following five target groups (order of target groups does not indicate priority):

  • Pregnant Women
  • Persons who live with or provide care for infants aged < 6 months.
  • Health-care and emergency medical services personnel
  • Persons aged 6 months–24 years
  • Persons aged 25–64 years who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications including:
    • Chronic pulmonary (including asthma), cardiovascular (except hypertension) renal, hepatic, hematological or metabolic disorders (including diabetes mellitus);
    • Immunosupression caused by medications or by human immunodeficiency virus;
    • Cognitive dysfunction, spinal cord injuries, seizure disorders, or other neuromuscular disorders) that can compromise respiratory function or the handling of respiratory secretions or that can increase the risk for aspiration.
